It wasn't discounted extra for the new DLP models, but I decided it was time to give up and buy it on Amazon, and when I looked on the site today, Amazon showed me a separate offer for a free up-converting DVD player. I was a little worried about getting a tv shipped, but after Amazon had trouble with broken items through UPS, they switched to Eagle, who everyone complains is slow... but slow versus broken isn't much of a choice, is it?
I had looked at the glossy LNT4665F, but its sibling, the matte LNT4661F, is a few hundred dollars cheaper. The 4661 a Consumer Reports "Quick Pick" from the March issue Henry mentioned. Amazon forumgoers seem to prefer the 4665, but these folks think the glare is a bigger issue. The Amazon thread also says the speakers are on the bottom on the 4661 instead of the sides as on the 4665, but CR still gave the 4661 an “excellent” in sound quality.
I guess we'll see in a week or two!
