I was looking for a memorable article but couldn't think of how to find it, even with the Awesomebar. (“Starling” isn't in the URL or title.) So I decided to give up and reinstall Google Desktop Search. Now my MBP is warming my lap in the summer, primarily because...
The one part you can't disable is the part the OS already provides. Wtf??
To recount: I was going to write an MT plugin using Yahoo!'s Podcast Search API so I could build a podcast feed of episodes of other podcasts that I liked. Apparently, though, Yahoo! has decided to stop offering its podcast search service. I say "apparently" because they haven't announced they're ending it, but it hasn't worked for weeks. They also don't link to it on the Audio Search page, though it's in the Search page's sidebar and it pops right up in a search.
So the other day I thought, "Huh, maybe Google Reader can do it."
And now I'm repodding.
So prosaic a thing, the new Google Reader search, but it cuts right to the heart of my use case.
Steps to reproduce

- Open it in another tab.
- Mark everything read and close the aggregator.
- Wait several hours.
- Bookmark the cool thing.
- Start entering tags.
- Realize you have something of a social obligation to enter an appropriate via: tag or note.
- Realize you forgot where you got the link.
- Open your aggregator and search for the link.

Switching to Newsgator's Classic Reader at least got me the result
(video), but just compare the results pages. I know which I prefer. (I'd prefer those results in a NetNewsWire window, but eh. I can just keep my feeds synchronized to Google Reader and search there.)
How many IM addresses do you have? What are they for?
Almost submitted by clippedwings. But not.
Like most old hands at Internet, I have a bunch of IM accounts: AIM, work AIM, mobile AIM, ICQ, Y!M, Google Talk, LiveJournal Talk, work talk. I did revive my canceled Twitter account, to keep the name, but I should probably rebuild my network so I can if I ever make the in-browser update spooler I want (sort of Jaiku on the client).
Let it be known that I love Jabber. I almost wrote a client for Jabber when I started university (in Java), but it ended up sourceforge abandonware like so many other people's projects. I even started using Pidgin on the laptop because it provides a moderately better Jabber experience than Trillian Pro (best UX but flaky on the protocol) or Pandion (warmed over UX). Optimally someone would put the Google client interface on libpurple (the protocol underpinnings of both Pidgin and Adium), but it's not been done yet.
The notable exception is Windows Live Messenger. Not got one of those. (I do have an Xbox Live account, though, so I almost do.)
Google Search: Your search - "smooth move, sarb-ox" - did not match any documents.
Update: This page is already in the search results.
Reading this post of Winnie's, obviously:
So people who read about Starbucks monkey hats were interested in sea monkeys, Naughty Monkey shoes, and The Monkees. Obviously.
