If you were still in suspense, I did get the TV I bought:
- new Xbox 360 I bought when I decided to buy a tv (HDMI)
- Wii I already had (proprietary ↔ component)
- free upsampling DVD player that got me to buy the thing (HDMI)
- MacBook Pro (DVI ↔ HDMI)
- white iMac (mini-DVI ↔ DVI ↔ HDMI)
I guess that's that:
Dear Amazon.com Customer,
As someone who has shown an interest in televisions and video, you might like to know that as Samsung prepares to release new models, Amazon.com has lowered prices on all of our current models while supplies last.
Speaking of things to watch with eyes, I got a 360 and Rock Band this past weekend. So now I should probably get a TV.
- Deciding a price range.
- Finding the most expensive TV with good sound in that price range.
- Watching slickdeals or one's local equivalent for discounts on that model.
That seems like it'll take a while though. Given I strongly considered buying a TV from Best Buy when I got the other parts, does anyone have recommendations that might get me one sooner?
Which TV show was cancelled way too soon?
While I liked Invader Zim too , the one I was watching at the time was Farscape . I don't know about way too soon, though, as it was getting completely inaccessible to new viewers.
Cancelled way
too soon was Firefly
, but I only saw it on DVD after anyway. So I would be happy if Farscape
got a DVD treatment as nice as Firefly
's, rather than the ultra-quantized ADV packaging.
It's about a virtual reality combat sim the government built, using "the 1990 census and satellite photography" to completely simulate the entire United States in order to run terrorist crisis simulations. But things have changed: some officer who was the "high scorer" is now General Santiago, having performed a military coup and slowly accreting the northeast in his fenced-in utopian dictatorship. (On the first disc he gets the rest of New Jersey he hadn't already taken.) The protagonist is some random army guy who gets put in the game to, like everyone else who gets put in the game, kill Santiago. As it transpires in the first four episodes, according to various other characters, Santiago is the only person with means to leave the game of his own free will, and intends to destroy the real world once he gets his virtual utopia sufficiently locked in.
So of course this morning all I can think is it should be a MMORPG.
